What even is HIIT?

It’s an acronym for high intensity interval training.

Wait… What?

Still a little confusing right? Well when performing cardio or even lifting exercises, you may also be completing a high intensity interval workout and not even know it!

High intensity interval training is easier to comprehend when you say it like this: high intensity movement followed by low intensity movement or a complete short rest.

Why should I even do doing HIIT?

HIIT is so awesome because you can burn more calories in a shorter amount of time, plus you will keep burning more calories after your workout has ended! Your body will be challenged and pushed to it’s limits which will break down your muscles (this is a good thing because they will grow when they are repairing themselves).

HIIT is the perfect combination of cardio, power and strength! If you’re not doing HIIT in your workout routine, you’re missing out on some killer workouts!

An awesome HIIT workout to do that requires absolutely no equipment is running! Hit the pavement! Start by warming up with a light jog or walk and then start the workout.

You’ll complete about 30 seconds of a fast run or sprint then taking it down to a slow jog for the next 30 seconds. Repeat this high intensity followed by low intensity for about 10 or more times.

HIIT is also done when you are lifting weights! You start with a weighted movement that is difficult and then take a short rest before completing the move again! Usually we do about 3 or 4 sets during each movement and hopefully you are hitting about 6 of them so that’s a solid HIIT workout! Maybe you didn’t even know it!
