How to Cook Crispy Tofu

How to Cook the Perfect Crispy Tofu!

When I first started eating tofu, I had no idea what I was doing… I probably wasted 2 full containers in tone week because I suck at following rules and just like to do my own thing in the kitchen.

I only used tofu as a scramble or in my fried rice recipe because I had no idea how to make it crispy and delicious!

I tried a lot of different things to make my tofu crispy. Then one day I was in a hurry and did just a quick hand press (to get the water out), sliced it and pan fried (ON A NON-STICK PAN) it with just a spritz of cooking spray!

It was the perfect crispiness without a ton of extra oil, making this tofu the perfect addition to a sandwich, wrap or salad!

Easy Crispy Tofu - Educating Earthlings

Tofu is a complete protein, which means it contains all 9 essential amino acids. Protein is made up of 20 amino acids, 11 our bodies can produce naturally, and the other 9 we need to get from the food we eat.

As adults, we should have 2-4 servings of complete proteins per day, depending on our activity levels and body mass. Nuts (including nut butter) and beans are also a great course of complete proteins!!

How to Cook Crispy Tofu – Oil Free!

Heck yeah! You read that right!! It’ll only take you 6 minutes to cook this perfect crispy tofu!! Get ready to memorize these few easy steps to the perfect crispy tofu!

 

Crispy Tofu

  • Yield: 2-4 servings
  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 6 minutes

Ingredients

  • one block of Extra Firm Tofu

Instructions

  1. Remove the Extra Firm tofu from package, drain water

  2. Use a few paper towels or tea towels to gently squeeze some excess water from the tofu

  3. Slice to tofu block into 12 even slices, start by making 4 equal sections and then divide each section into 3 slices

  4. On medium heat, cook both sides of the tofu slices for 3 minutes each (feel free to cook them longer for extra crispiness)

  5. Remove from heat and serve on your favorite sandwich or wrap! Chop into small pieces for a salad, or store in the fridge for up to one week!

Notes

If you need to use some cooking spray on your pan due to the non-non-stick... then feel free!
Just don't use too much!
