Macros matter because of their micronutrients. They work together! So, hate me for saying it, but eating chicken and rice every day is NOT what your body needs.

Plant based proteins are actually much easier for our bodies to digest! “But Lexi, they are higher in carbs!” WHO CARES!!! Carbs are what give our body energy and actually have a lot lower caloric value compared to protein and fats, which means you can eat more carbs!

This post might sound a little sassy already, but I promise you that everything I am ranting about right now is the truth. I want to see you look you best, but also feel your best! Putting high quality foods into your body is the best way to get there.

Plant Based Macro Mocha Smoothie

Okay, so now you know what I think about macros worry-worts, let’s get into the macros of this smoothie!

This macro smoothie is PERF for your morning kick and will suffice as a full meal! Is is a “low calorie” meal? Nope! It comes to about 400 calories which is what a meal should look like. It is made up of real foods that will keep you feeling full until lunch!

All we use for this smoothie is 1 banana, 1 Tbsp chia seeds, 1 scoop of Vega One Mocha, 1 cup of soy milk and 1 cup of brewed coffee (cold).

The Carbs: This smoothie contains 48g of carbohydrates half of them coming from fiber. The other half comes from natural sugars in the fruit.

The Fats: About 15g of fats will help keep you feeling satisfied and balanced. These fats come from the chia seeds which are rich in antioxidants, fiber, calcium and iron. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which help to regulate your cholesterol levels.

The Proteins: Just over 30g of protein will feed into your skin, hair, nails, bones, and muscles all morning. 20 grams comes from the Vega One Mocha powder and the other 10 come from the chias seeds and soy milk. If you choose to use almond milk instead the protein will be lower. You can also just use water as well.

BLENDER I USE

Macro Mocha Smoothie

  • Yield: 1 smoothie
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop Vega One Mocha
  • 1 ripe Banana
  • 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 Cup plant based milk of you choice (can also use water)
  • 1 Cup brewed coffee (cold)
  • 1 Cup Ice

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender until smoothie. Serve cold!
