Surviving Wedding Season as a Vegan Guest

Alright guys, it’s here… wedding season. Some of us love it! Some of us look forward to when it’s all over with. Being a plant-eating wedding guest takes a little creativity and preparation to have an awesome evening. Today, you’ll learn tips on surviving wedding season as a vegan guest!

Surviving Wedding Season.

Generally, wedding season is stressful and beautiful all at the same time. It’s even more stressful if your IN the wedding, or if it’s YOUR wedding! Let’s focus on what you’ll need to have prepared and get creative with if you’re vegan, and attending a non-vegan wedding.

Here are 5 things to remember this wedding season so make sure you have a good time and keep you belly full!

1. Have a small meal before the wedding

Whether you’re in the wedding or have a ways to travel, you should bring a small meal along just in case there’s a long wait until dinner. Pack yourself some easy to eat (non-refrigerated) fruit like apples and bananas. Also take a serving of plant based protein along with you. This will keep you feeling full and nourished.

Vega One would be perfect for this occasion! It’s so much more than a protein supplement.

2. Be prepared to talk to the wedding coordinator about your needs.

There will be a vegetarian option for dinner. Most caters have to have one vegetarian option available for you. But, that doesn’t mean it will be vegan. All you have to do when you arrive is express your needs to the coordinator (the person who looks like they are in charge) and they should be able to whip together a plate for you.

3. Pack some healthy snacks

Healthy snacks to munch on between the ceremony and the reception is going to help keep you sane! Plus, sometimes you don’t even know if there will be something for you during the dinner portion besides bread and salad (as long as it’s not cesar). Pack some almonds or almond butter pouches like these ones (this brand doesn’t use any palm oil!!) – And maybe even a Vega One bar!

4. Bring your own chocolate

Most likely, you’ll be faced with cupcakes, donuts, chocolate waterfalls and tons of other candies. Be prepared and bring your own vegan chocolate! The BEST EVER vegan chocolate is the Maca Chocolate from Vega. Maca is a superfood that helps promote brain function and gives you a little boost of energy! Another great sweet treat to pack along is The Complete Cookie!

5. There will be meat served to other guest.

Don’t be “that person” that makes comments about how meat and cheese is harmful to humans, how awful the animals are treated, or the effect raising cattle has on the environment. The night is not about animal rights or promoting health, it’s about the beautiful couple getting married!

6. Be present.

Let loose a bit and have fun! Celebrate with friends and/or family and really live in the moment. Enjoying each raw moment (rather than worrying about what you’re going to eat when everyone else orders pizza) is the key to having an amazing night – and life!
