With these smoothies you’ll have no excuse to get those greens in and start your day off right! Even on cold winter days like this one (it’s literally 4ºF right now) you’ll actually crave these smoothies. They are naturally energizing and detoxifying due to all the fiber, greens and vitamins packed into each serving!
Fact: When you start off with a healthy breakfast, you are much more likely to eat right for the rest of the day!
This recipe is slightly altered this week and I’ll include the full smoothie prep version in the recipe card below!
On the day of prep, you’ll need all the fruits and veggies including the prep bags:
- large bag of frozen strawberries
- 6 ripe bananas
- 1 container of baby spinach & kale mix
- 1 bunch of organic celery (celery is a dirty dozen item so always buy organic if you can!)
- 1 large english cucumber
- 6 quart size freezer bags (or an eco friendly alternative)

Today I just used your standard BPA free disposable freezer bag. These work just fine and fit well in the freezer.
First step is to simply wash all the produce (cucumber and celery) very well. Lay out all the fruits and veggies to make it easy for you to fill those bags right up!
I always put the bananas in the bag first, followed by the strawberries, cucumbers, celery and lastly the spinach & kale mix. This is just the easiest way that I found to make sure everything fit and freezes nicely. You should totally find your own groove for prepping your smoothies!
Make sure everything is sealed up tight and place them in the freezer! All you have to do each morning is let the bag sit out for about 10 minutes to thaw a bit, then add your chia seeds and coconut milk!
It’s super easy for a busy morning and to take on the go if needed.
Remember, if you need something more in the morning, just add 1/4 Cup of rolled oats to your smoothie before blending! This will keep you feeling fuller for longer and will give you an extra energy kick due to the healthy carbs in the oats!

Green Smoothie Prep Bags
- 1 quart size freezer bags (or something similar)
- 6 ripe bananas
- 6 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1 english cucumber
- 1 bunch of celery
- 6 cups of spinach/kale blend
Wash all produce well
Peel & slice each banana and place one full banana in each bag
measure about 1 Cup of strawberries in each bag
Cut cucumber into even 6ths, slice into smaller peices and distribute between the bags
Use about 2 stalks of celery, chopped, in each bag
Add in the spinach & kale blend last. Pack in about 1 Cup into each bag.
Freeze bags until you are ready to make your smoothie!
On the day you're ready to make the smoothie, take one bag out of the freezer about 10 minutes prior (this will allow for easier blending)
Add in 1 cup of the liquid of your choice - coconut water or milk is awesome with this smoothie!
Add in chia seeds or other superfoods to pump up your smoothie!
