I think I have came to the realization that I’m always thinking about food; in the gym, in my bed, or walking the mall; food is always on my mind!
Currently, I’m just planning out what I’m going to eat for next week and was shocked that I haven’t shared my simple tofu burger recipe with you all yet!
This simple tofu burger recipe is going to become one of your easy go-to meals. Of course it’s not something to eat at every meal, but it does pack a huge punch of plant based protein and wholesome fiber.
Tofu is your friend!
I used to think that tofu was weird. It looks weird, feels weird and tastes weird unless you add in a ton of your own flavor to the mix. Then I discovered the perfect way to cook tofu and it’s super easy!
Now I add this perfectly cooked tofu to my sandwiches to make it burger style. There are a ton of other ways to use this perfectly cooked tofu, but this recipe is for a simple tofu burger.
First you’ll need to prep your tofu. This is the most important part of it all!

Once you’ve mastered the tofu secrets, you are on your way to becoming the tofu lover! Tofu is slightly processed and should not be eaten in abundance. However, it does pack lots of plant based protein into one small package and it leaded in fiber (as I mentioned before).
Now you are ready to build your perfect tofu burger!
Assemble the Perfect Tofu Burger
Start out by draining the water from the tofu package and pressing it with your hands. Let it sit on a stack of paper towels or reusable napkins with a plate on top for some light pressure to press out any extra liquid. While this is going on you can start to prep the veggies.
Get out your favorite veggies you like on a burger. I like to use tomatoes, onions, avocado, and lot of greens. Sometimes I throw in some extra veggies like carrots or cucumbers! Wash and chop up all your veggies accordingly.
After you’ve prepped the veggies, your tofu will be ready to cook! Follow the simple directions in THIS POST to make your tofu extra crispy! Slice the tofu into 12-16 strips, spray a nonstick pan and cook for about 3 mins of each side. Depending on your preference, you might want to cook them longer.
When they are almost done cooking, start to toast your sprouted grain bread. I like to use either Ezikiel Bread or Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery brands! You can find one or the other or both at any grocery store OR order them in bulk (and just freeze them) through Amazon Prime!
Remove the tofu from the heat and start creating! This can be made however your little heart desires!
My advice is to enjoy with some avocado and all your fav veggies! Mash up some avo and spread it one one side, load up the other side with some ketchup & mustard, then just get to building!

Perfect Tofu Burger
- 4-8 sliced of Perfect Crispy Tofu (link in post)
- 2 slices of sprouted grain bread
- 1 roma tomato
- handful of greens
- any other veggies you want
- mashed avocado (optional)
- ketchup & mustard
Wash and prepare all the veggies while you cook the tofu (if you haven't yet)
Toast the sprouted grain bread.
Assemble your burger & enjoy!
