Not only are overnight oats delicious, but they are also super easy to make. Just combine the oats, toppings and plant based milk into a glass jar or container; shake to combine, and refrigerate overnight! Traditionally, overnight oats are supposed to be eaten cold, but of course you can warm them in the microwave if you prefer.

Behind the Superfoods

This superfood overnight oats recipe requires 3 superfoods plus frozen berries of your choice (blueberries recommended). The superfoods are Hemp Seeds, Maca Powder and Goji Berries and can all be found in Amazon in the ‘shop’ section above.

Hemp Seeds

The highly digestible protein in hemp includes all the essential amino acids. Which makes it an excellent choice for anyone needing to boost their protein intake. At 5 g of protein per serving, hemp seed’s overall protein content of 34.6% is comparable to soybeans and is higher than that found in nuts, seeds and animal products. Hemp seeds also provide a good source of essential fatty acids.

Maca Powder

Maca is a potent, ancient Peruvian superfood used by indigenous Andean societies as a source of nourishment and healing for thousands of years. Unique alkaloids found in maca, called Macainas, have been shown to nourish and support the endocrine system. Maca also provides an abundance of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and sterols.

Goji Berries

Goji berries have been enjoyed for over 2,000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They can be eaten by the handful, and they provide a superfruit boost to oatmeal, cookies, trail mix and more. A surprisingly strong source of protein, goji berries also contain a wealth of antioxidants and over 20 vitamins and minerals.

Superfood Overnight Oats

It’s always best to use glassware over anything else, even if the product is BPA free. Glass is the safest for your body and is easiest to recycle or reuse later. I love keeping old glass jars from coconut oil, sauces, pickles and anything else that’s a good size! Otherwise, if you prefer to have all matching glassware, try these Ball mason jars or this glassware set.

Fill your jar in this order:

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp Hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp Maca powder
  • 2 Tbsp Goji berries
  • top off cup soy milk (or other plant based milk)

Pop that bad boy in the fridge overnight and enjoy in the morning! You can meal prep these little jars of heaven just by adding everything but the milk and keeping them in the fridge. Each night before, just add the milk to one of the jars and you’re good to go!
